In order to use Heysender you need to setup an SPF record in your DNS panel, with your web hosting service. In this article we will guide you through setting up your first SPF record.
Since there are countless hosting providers out there, we can naturally not show how to do it with each and everyone. We will therefor use one provider as an example, and then try to explain it in a more general matter.
Start by logging into your hosting service admin panel. Now find the DNS panel in the menu.
Now locate a TXT file that holds a value including SPF, in example below it reads:
v=spf1 include:spf.simply.com -all
If no record exists, you need to create one yourself.
In this example we simply need to edit the existing file to include our new value. Click edit and add the Heysender value so it now reads:
v=spf1 include:send.heysender.com include:spf.simply.com -all
When sending emails from multiple providers you should include then in you SPF record, in example a support system like Zendesk.
Multiple values in the SPF record needs to be separated by a space.
Once the SPF record has been published it will need to propagate across DNS servers worldwide. This can take up to 48 hours, however it is usually done within a few hours.
When clicking on your domain you can see a green checkmark if the SPF record has been propagated.
Please note that DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to take effect, however it is usually done within a few hours.
